The Words, “I forgot” can Cost You!

Every day, we are all faced with many things we need to remember. Most are automatic and we don’t give them much thought, but for the things that are not daily occurrences, the consequences of forgetting may be awful. Forgetting your partner’s birthday for example may have you in trouble for days or even weeks. Being forgetful about other things may have more of an effect, such as forgetting to renew your Oklahoma home insurance on time.

Usually, there is no grace period on renewing your insurance.  Finding your home is damaged or has been robbed is devastating enough. The having to call your insurance company and finding you may not be covered because of nonpayment of renewal fees will be worse.

There are steps you can take to avoid forgetting important dates and times. Being organized and planning ahead is the best way. Keep your paperwork filed and orderly so you can access any information quickly and easily. Make note of important dates on your phone, your computer or even a desk calendar and make a conscious effort to check the diary every day. Making a note to renew well before the due date or scheduling a payment via Internet banking could take away the worry of not paying on time.

The start of a new calendar year is a great time to begin organizing your affairs. Setting time aside to note down all important dates for the year should help free you from the worry of letting something important slip by without notice. While noting your Oklahoma home insurance renewal dates, it may be a timely reminder to also reassess if your coverage is adequate.
